Pune: The National Defence Academy (NDA) hosted the NDA Convocation Ceremony for the 148th course at Habibullah Hall, marking a significant milestone in the journey of 336 cadets who successfully completed one of the world’s most rigorous and prestigious military training programs.
The event was graced by Prof Dr Poonam Tandon, Vice Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, as the Chief Guest. She was received by Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, AVSM, NM, Commandant, NDA.
In her convocation address, Dr Tandon commended the cadets for their resilience, discipline, and dedication.
“The National Defence Academy stands as a symbol of India’s military excellence. The journey these cadets have undertaken not only reflects their personal strength but also the collective commitment of their families and mentors,” she said, while also acknowledging the role of parents in guiding their children towards a life of service.
Academic Excellence Recognized
Delivering the academic report for Spring Term 2025, Prof O P Shukla, Principal, NDA, outlined the scholastic achievements of the cadets. A total of 228 cadets were awarded Bachelor’s degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU):
- 84 cadets in the Science stream
- 85 cadets in Computer Science
- 59 cadets in the Arts stream
The NDA Convocation Ceremony also saw 17 cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries receive their degrees, underscoring NDA’s international appeal and strategic partnerships.
NDA Convocation Ceremony: B Tech Cadets Begin Next Phase
An additional 108 Navy and Air Force cadets from the B Tech stream received their three-year course completion certificates. These cadets will go on to complete their final year of engineering studies at the Indian Naval Academy (Ezhimala) and the Air Force Academy (Hyderabad), respectively, where they will be conferred their B Tech degrees upon commissioning.
The 148th NDA Convocation Ceremony highlights the institution’s commitment to academic rigour and military excellence, preparing future officers to serve with honor across the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
